How can FatHubby lose weight, when……

June 29, 2007

How can FatHubby lose weight, when SFF is asking me out to the mexican restaurant (she ate pretty good), then goes to get ice cream? And she tried to justify it by saying “sugar-free”? What the hell is sugar-free ice cream? Is that anything like “safe-cigarettes”?

I am down to 294 lbs. Not on track, but losing.

I also signed up for the gym.

One week, one pound…….errrh…..

June 19, 2007

Off to a blazing start…..not!

Trying to get my handle on this “eating right” thing. In addition, still trying to figure out this whole “exercise” thing. Conceptually I am there. Motivationally, I want to drink a beer and think about it some more, to get the right perspective on things.

SFF reminded me this morning about my cholesterol and said I needed to do something about it today.

What I really need is a drill sergeant like R. Lee Ermey

R Lee

That, a good beating, and my jaw wired shut. That should take care of business.

SFF is getting lots of attention as usual, a diet-site wrote an article about her blog, and mentioned a few of her more interesting posts and comments.

A visit to the doctor

June 6, 2007

I had to go.

He was holding my scripts hostage….till I came in for a visit.

No narcotics, just good old fashioned BP medication to keep the morbidly obese alive a few more years. Apparently he wanted to run a few tests to make sure I was not gonna die before I payed up. The nurse weighed me (297 lbs.) down from 305 (a lifetime of work) since SFF has been eating right.

The big news is, I made a wager with my doctor to get my BP down without medication: Goal weight of 240-250 lbs. in 6-9 months. Now I have somebody watching over my shoulder.

That is Motivation

Stress, eating, and the working boy

May 15, 2007

The stressful day I had today  inspired me to post about stress and eating.  Since I have read watched alot a little about stress and it’s relationship to obesity, I thought I would pose the question:  Is there really a relationship to stress and obesity other than impulse, habit, and choice of food?

I am sure there is a stress hormone(s), but is this something you can take a pill to counteract the effects?

My name is Don, and I am a fat bastard

May 14, 2007

That is how they start out the meeting at AA right?  Seems appropriate, you can’t make any progress until you admit you have a problem.

My problem?  I weigh around 100 pounds more than I should, according to many guidelines.  I feel like I would be happy dropping about 60 pounds, maybe even live a few years longer.  So I am hoping to start changing my lifestyle this week.  I intend on making good on the promises I have made to my wife.
